Shawn dobbins

Senior Pastor

Pastor Shawn was called as Pastor in July 2013 after serving churches in his home state of Virginia. He earned a B.S. in Physical Education at Roanoke College; Master of Divinity, with languages at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary; and a Doctorate of Ministry in Church Revitalization at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He and his wife, Sarah, are blessed with Franklin, Isabella, Parker, and a dog Jeter. They are rabid fans of the University of Virginia, Philadelphia Eagles, and the New York Yankees. They also cheer on the local teams UK, Cincinnati and Bengals & Reds. 

Mark whitaker

Pastor of Worship and Missions

Mark was raised in Franklin, TN and Bowling Green, KY and has a passion for the church to be on mission and he is a gifted musician. He joined the HBC staff in 2017 after serving at local churches in Kentucky and Alabama. Mark graduated from Campbellsville University with a Bachelor's of Music concentrating in Church Music. He also graduated with a Masters of Divinity in Church Ministry and a Doctorate of Missiology at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Mark and his wife, Wendy, have four children: Sarah Beth, Liam, Joshua, and Ezekiel. 

Zach Hunter

Youth Minister

Zach Hunter is our dedicated Youth Minister, bringing a heartfelt passion for guiding young people in their faith. Born and raised in Atlanta, GA, Zach has a deep appreciation for community and connection,
In addition to his role at our church, Zach serves as the Associate Minister and Outreach Coordinator for the Baptist Campus Ministry (BCM) at Northern Kentucky University. His experience on campus allows him to reach youth in diverse settings, creating impactful opportunities for spiritual growth and outreach. Zach believes in the power of building strong relationships and providing a safe, welcoming environment for youth to grow and be challenged in their faith 

Christy reed

Director of Children's Ministries

Christy Reed received a Bachelor of Arts in Education (K-8) from the University of Kentucky, a Master's of Arts in Elementary Education from Morehead State University in Morehead, KY. She previously taught in Christian schools and as a Librarian. Her husband, Scott, is a teacher and they have 2 children: Conner and Quinn. 

Sarah Phillips

Administrative Assistant

Sarah was raised in Southern California. She spent 17 years serving her church in Colorado in children's ministry and homeschooling their three children. Sarah and her husband, Chris, moved to Indiana in 2017.  When she's not at work, you can find her teaching sewing and renovating their historic home.   

Terri Bungenstock 

Director of CrossRoads Preschool 

Terri graduated from NKU with a BA in English Literature. After many years in the corporate world, she discovered that going to preschool every day is what she was called to do.
